The Days After Pain
Nirgendwohin, or To nowhere, is a story of escape — from days of self-denial and the sting of relentless criticism.
The word “nowhere” signifies a place where no one knows me and no one understands my language. It is a record of being a complete outsider — in a refuge that is both voluntary and involuntary; a place of chosen exile and silent disappearance.
In the country where I live and exist, every action demands justification. Even the smallest act requires a reason. I am expected to take responsibility for every relationship and accept the consequences — always with an explanation.
But while traveling, I become anonymous. I focus solely on the essentials: food, shelter, clothing.
The spaces I’ve inhabited are covered in scars. Without waiting for all the bruises of life to be cleansed, I ran away.
In a place I had never lived, among unfamiliar things, I began to collect objects — documenting the process, observing the mismatched, witnessing what didn’t belong.
In those moments, perhaps, I found the only breakthrough: a brief escape from the weight of accountability, from accusations, and from forgiveness that may never arrive.
Why must I be questioned, asked for proof, or forced to explain myself?
