Can design exist without control?
In Beyond Control, artist and designer Ringailė Demšytė explores this question through an unlikely collaborator: slime mould. What began as an experiment in growing typography with a living organism led her to rethink her role as a designer. As the organism resisted predetermined forms, she learned to observe, adapt, and care.
Developed from her master's research at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague, this experimental publication brings together writing, visual experiments, and documentation of the process. Ring binding, translucent pages, and foldouts reflect the evolving nature of the research.
